ABOUT BANGERS BASEBALL
MILWAUKEE'S COMMUNITY BASEBALL TEAM
WE'RE PLAYING FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME AND OUR CITY.
The Milwaukee Bangers were established in 2021 as Milwaukee Sandlot Baseball. Originally established as a pickup baseball league, we set out with a vision of making baseball accessible to adults of every age and skill level. However, our members quickly realized that we were stronger as a team of committed ballplayers rather than a group constantly seeking new players to throw together games on the weekends.
In 2022, we rebranded as the Milwaukee Bangers. Our name pays tribute to the grit and resilience of Milwaukee's 1982 World Series team, Harvey's Wallbangers. Despite this change, our goal remains the same: To play casual, competitive baseball in a high-quality, organized environment while making a positive impact on our community.
Players on our roster are given the opportunity to play in local head-to-head matchups and travel the United States to play baseball in sandlot-style events and tournaments. To ensure that we remain true to our roots, we also host pickup baseball games throughout the year that are open for public participation.
Our passion for America's Pastime equals our desire to make our city a better place to live. We provide our players with the chance to reconnect with the game they love, make new friends, raise money for charitable causes, and stay active in the Milwaukee community simply by playing baseball.
Our roster is constructed of talented ballplayers who display the same tenacious traits as Harvey's Wallbangers. There is no specific baseball background required to play. All we're looking for is good people who consistently show up to our games and demonstrate a strong desire to help improve our club. How to Get Involved!
1) Join Our Roster
Joining our roster is the best choice for players who can commit to playing games and participating in casual practices throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Rostered players are eligible to play in local games and travel games, as well as our pickup games. Club dues are required to be paid along with the purchase of a game jersey, hat, and your own equipment. Although we're a team for everyone, we have limited roster spots available in order to maintain a high-quality experience for our players. Please fill out a Player Interest Form if you're interested in joining our team. Preference is given to good people who can play consistently and are willing to travel for games.
2) Join Our Pickup Club
If you missed out on snagging one of our roster spots or can't commit to a full season, you can still play ball! All you have to do is submit a Player Interest Form, pay the registration fee, and show up. Your registration fee can be paid by purchasing a Pickup Club Membership in our Merch store or via Venmo. The registration period never ends and you can join at any time throughout the year.
Pickup games are hosted on weekends throughout the summer and are open to the public. We ask that you bring $2 when you play to help cover field rental costs as well as support our community efforts. You must supply your own equipment to play, including a batting helmet and wood bat. All registered players have an open invite to participate in our practices. If a roster spot opens and you've been coming out to our events, you'll be the first one getting called up to join our roster!
3) Start a Sandlot Team
Whether you're right here in Milwaukee or a few hours away, we're always seeking new teams for some friendly competition. If you're a leader who's interested in running your own team, we'd love to hear from you. We'll even help you get started! Send us an email or reach out on social media if you're interested!
We don't limit ourselves to sandlot and play against amateur teams of all levels! If you're already an established ball club and would like to play us, reach out!
4) Use Your "Off the Field" Talents
You can help our club even if you're not a ballplayer! We're always looking to add good, talented people to our team of volunteers. If you have a knack for graphic design, marketing, photography, community relations, or any skill that can benefit our club, we'd love for you to join us! WHAT IS MILWAUKEE BANGERS BASEBALL?
We're a club of people who are passionate about baseball. We play recreationally for the love of the game and our community.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN YOUR EVENTS?
Pickup games are for anyone age 18+. Our Bangers roster is invite-only and reserved for players who have shown a strong willingness to help our club succeed.
IF YOUR ROSTER IS FULL, ARE THERE OTHER TEAMS I CAN JOIN?
Yes! Please submit our Player Interest Form and we will connect you with another sandlot club or help you start your own.
DO I NEED MY OWN EQUIPMENT?
Yes. We have limited equipment to share. Please supply and use your own equipment including bats, helmets, and gloves.
DO I NEED A UNIFORM?
Players will be provided with a custom jersey once added to the roster. You do not need to purchase a jersey if you are only playing in pickup games.
WHAT KIND OF BAT CAN I USE?
Only wood bats and composite wood bats are allowed. These bats are expensive and we don't want you breaking someone else's. Due to this, we require that you bring your own piece of lumber.
DOES IT COST ANYTHING TO PLAY?
Yes. Please refer to the information listed above or contact us for more information regarding individual player costs.
WHEN DO I HAVE TO REGISTER BY?
There is no deadline. You can submit a Player Interest Form and join us for pickup games at any point during the year.
CAN I SPONSOR YOUR CLUB?
